O’tgan oddiy zamon
1.1.         O’tgan oddiy zamonni yasalishi
Affirmative sentences:
a)    to’g’ri fe’llar yordamida: fe’lga –ed qo’shimchasini qo’shamiz
He asked her to help him clean out the stables.
He acquired the firm in 1978.
We advertised our car
b)   noto’g’ri fe’llar yordamida: drink – drank, speak – spoke, write – wrote, shake –shook
The explosion shook buildings for miles around.
Here's your pen, I took it by mistake.
The soldiers fought from house to house.

          Negative sentences:  did+not=didn’t
She didn’t apologize for having to leave at 3.30 p.m.
I didn't do it intentionally.
He didn't remember, and neither did I.
Cross didn't answer; his facial expression didn't change.
It's not such a big loss!;  you didn't miss much!

Questions: general Did+Subject+Main Verb

Did you notice anything strange about him?
Did the thieves do any damage?
Did you meet her?
Did their statements match?
Did you get much help?
Did you fix the gutter?
Did he make a phone call?

 Questions:  Wh - questions

What did you think of the film?
When did he  take a  shower?
How did you hear about the concert?
Why did you choose to live in London?
What did you wear?
Who did you vote for in the last election?

wh – questions + noun +did

What books did you buy?

Wh –questions: egaga qo’yilgan savol who/what/which+ main verb in past simple
What happened after I left?
What caused the accident?
Who won the match?
Who told you you could park there?

1.2.         Used to va Would
Used to – o’tgan zamonda odatga aylanib qolgan, lekin vaqtinchalik to’xtatilgan yoki umuman to’xtatilgan, hozirda yuz bermayotgan harakatlarni  tasvirlashda ishlatiladi. Shuningdek, o’tgan zamonda o’z o’rniga ega bo’lgan, lekin, keyinchalik mavjud bo’lmagan holatlarni ham ifodalashda qo’llaniladi.
He used to meet her after school every day and see her home – U har kuni maktabdan keyin uni kutib olar va uyiga kuzatib qo’yardi (Bu harakat o’tgan zamon uchun odatiy holat edi)
The theatre used to be in the centre of the town – Shahar  marazida teatr bo’lardi. (teatr mavjud edi keyinchalik buzib tashlangan)
So’roq va inkor gaplarda
He didn't use to do that.  (= He never used to do that)
Did he use to do that?
 Used to qurilmasini be used to smth/doing smth va get used to smth/doing smth qurilmalari bilan adashtirmang. So’zlovchi ushbu qurilmalar orqali odatga aylanib bo’lgan, ko’nikib bo’lgan holatlarni tasvirlaydi. Taqqoslang:
I am used to waking up at 5 AM every morning. — Men har tong soat 5da turishga ko’nikib qoldim. (endi uyqudan turishga qiynalmayapman)
I used to get up at 5 AM every morning when was I a child. – Bolaligimda har tong soat 5 da turishga odatlangandim. (bu odat keyinchalik yo’q bo’lib ketdi)
 Would  used to kabi o’tgan zamonda takrorlanib kelgan ish-harakatlar va vaziyatlarni ifodalashda ishlatiladi. Biroq, mavjud bo’lgan bir martalik vaziyat haqida so’z borganda used to ishlatiladi. Masalan: She would usually be happy when she returned home after a long trip – Uzoq safardan qaytgandan so’ng, odatda u hursand bo’lardi. (har safar uzoq safardan so’ng) When he spoke to me I wouldn't understand anything – U gapirganida hech narsani tushunmasdim. (har safar gapirganida tushunmasdim) BIROQ: There used to be five cinemas in the town – Shaharda 5 ta kinoteatr bo’lardi. (ilgari bo’lgan – bu yerda biror holatni takrorlanishi kuzatilmayapti)
1.3.         O’tgan zamonni qo’llanilishi
O’tgan zamon oddiy fe’li o’tgan zamonda yuz bergan va hozirga hech qanday aloqasi bo’lmagan ish-harakatlar va holatlarni ifodalab keladi. Odatda o’tgan zamon oddiy fe’li quyidagi vaqt ko’rsatkichlari bilan birga ishlatiladi: in 1956, last year, last week, on Sunday, at seven o'clock.
They arrived at the airport at 5 o'clock. — Ular soat 5 da ayeroportga yetib kelishdi
When I was a child I played tennis — Bolaligimda tennis o’ynaganman.
I got up at 7 o'clock, washed myself and had breakfast — Soat 7 da turdim, yuvindim va nonushta qildim.
